Today's MasterMind Writer Prompt uses a series of tired cliches to illustrate the need for a support group to light the way to publishing success - if only to encourage you to come up with more original cliches.
Big Picture Thinking: Often, as writers, we get so close to the minute details in our work that we lose sight of the goal. A group can remind you that only a moving finger writes, so get the words on paper even if it is nothing to write home about. Then go back later to fix his wagon and fine tune the dialogue. When you are obsessing about a scene, your fellow writers can take you by the hand and walk you back to the reader's perspective so you can see the answer for yourself. They are your eye in the sky.
Takes a Village: Writing doesn't have to be a solitary endeavor. Pair up with another member of your group to co-write a book. You will finish in half the time and have twice as much fun. Plus, collaborating is a great excuse to meet regularly for coffee. The idea exchange can result in out of the box ideas neither of you would have achieved on your own.
All for One: The reason groups are so successful is that everyone sitting around the table has the same goal. At the end of the day, they all want to publish. Sharing resources, ideas and motivation can get everyone across the finish line faster.
That is why this week's prompts will be all about seeing and describing things as they really are, rather than our preconceived notions of how they should be. I hope you have a very productive writing week.

PS: My thanks to the cliche finder for the same old, same old. I only wish there were a reverse button on that site.
