Today I will prove to you why writers need to be on and using Twitter.
In the last year I have:
- Met and been inspired by a diverse array of talented writers and thinkers reaching out to anyone who would listen in 140 characters or less.
- Participated in #journchat, #editorchat and #writechat.
- Interacted with some 1,500 followers at varying levels.
- Spread the word about interesting sites, books worthy causes and people.
- Connected with old friends.
- Found new sources.
- Enjoyed real-time glimpses into what people all over the world are doing at any given moment.
- Won tickets to the jazz jubilee and half price dinner at L Wine Lounge.
- Learned about new software.
- Read a progressive novel (written as a community effort in 140-character increments).
Last week, the Twitter experience moved to a new level of productivity for me. Anna DeStefana, an Atlanta-based paranormal romantic suspense author started a new Twitter meeting place under the hashtag #writegoal. Writers state their goals in the morning then report back that evening. We all hold each other accountable and and cheer every success as our own.
