One of my family's favorite summer activities is cruising the river. Bill and the kids wakeboard, swim and search for the perfect rope swing. We always bring friends. Some are experts at holding onto a stick with a board on their feet. Others are beginners. All make the trip more fun because they bring their own perspective.
Like MasterMind Writing Groups that mix skill levels, expert boarders learn from beginners by recalling the basics. Beginners, in turn, benefit from the wisdom of those who have been doing it since they could walk.
We all remember how nervous we were that first time we tentatively grabbed the writing world by the keyboard and pulled ourselves up. Circling around to share a trick with a new writer gives us a chance to think up new angles no one has ever tried before. We step up our game and we bring our group along with us for the refreshing ride.
Of course one of the best things about spending a sunny day on the water is cruising up to a shoreside restaurant at sunset to celebrate our accomplishments - something a MasterMind Group is well suited to replicate. The group that learns together celebrates together.
How does your group cool it's jets?
