For several weeks I have been sharing the secrets from our book the Writer's Secret: MasterMind Your Way to Publishing Success. In the years we have been writing books and magazines, we have found that the power of a group of peers dedicated to holding us accountable, offering hard-won advice and celebrating our achievements helped us accomplish more than staring at a blank computer screen. We have also shared some tips on how to start and run a MasterMind meeting so it is efficient and stays on topic using the MIND technique:
- March of Truth
- Identify Challenges
- Nudge Suggestions
- Direct Goals
Now we want to hear your secrets.
- How do you motivate yourself?
- What are your writing rituals?
- Who do you call when the words don't come?
Only by sharing can we all be more successful. The simple technique that keeps you focused during the warm afternoons when the sun and chores are calling may be the breakthrough that allows someone else to finish that novel. By sharing the results of your trials and errors, you may save someone else from making the same mistake. And by reading the feedback from other writers, you may come across a strategy you hadn't considered before.
That is why we are giving a free Writer's Secret book to the best writing secret submitted to the comments section of this site by Wednesday, Feb. 4. We, the judges, will choose the the most applicable, effective and well-written entry as the winner.
Then everyone in the Sacramento area is invited to join us Thursday, Feb. 5, for a Writers Who Wine Social Meet-Up event at Scandals bar in the Citizen Hotel at 926 J Street. It's time to celebrate you.
Yours in Writing
Chief Nudging Officers
