Crossing the finish line doesn't have to be a solitary moment. In Writer's Secret: MasterMind Your Way to Publishing Success, we use the metaphor of a marathon because the writing and running have a lot in common. Although often considered individual sports, both are more productive and fun when supported by a team concept.
Like publishing a book, running a marathon is not something you wake up and decide to do one day. Both require months of dedicated work. During that time if left to our own devices, it can be easy to get discouraged, lose sight of the goal and slack off.
A group of friends who share the same goal can make the training and hours at the computer more fun by making the dream more vivid. Just knowing that these people are in your corner, cheering you on, can propel you forward. And because they are sharing the same journey, they can offer tips on short cuts, resources and inspiration. This is especially true if they have written a book or completed a marathon before.
When the day finally comes to cross the finish line and attend the launch party, your team will be at your side, celebrating your victory. How sweet is that?
How has your Writer's MasterMind team helped you stay on track?
Yours in Writing
